“Service Oriented Architecture-based (SOA) software development, test, and evaluation in the changing system acquisition paradigm”
Presented by Paul Morrisseau, Center for Maritime and Port Security (CMPS) Group of SRI International
Overview: This seminar will focus on emerging software development technologies, primarily Service Oriented Architecture, and the effects on the way systems are designed, tested, and transitioned into operation. As a result of the Weapons Systems Acquisition Reform Act (WSARA) of 2009, one of the key issues identified was the lack of Testing and Evaluation (T&E) techniques and standards developed for newer software development technologies such as SOA, Software as a Service (SaaS), Ontology, etc. The content of this seminar will first describe SOA and establish a definition. Then, the current system acquisition paradigm will be discussed as well as how that paradigm is changing due to new technologies and how to test and evaluate them. Upon the conclusion of the seminar, attendees will have a good understanding of SOA, its role in system acquisition programs, and some of the primary issues regarding the T&E of such architectures.
