The Cybersecurity and Information Systems Information Analysis Center (CSIAC) was asked to provide information on the development of common data models that allow merging and generating data from different information repositories. The inquirer was seeking this information to provide context on how their organization’s scientific and technical information collection/archival repository compares with the current state of the art. Of specific interest were examples of the successful development of common data models (a data model from an engineering perspective) that allow mix/match/comparison of data from one repository to another. The data model should also include capabilities to turn the resulting data into something useful for analytics. Common data models for use within the Azure cloud platform environment were preferred. CSIAC conducted open-search research and provided the inquirer with multiple tools and supporting technologies that met their requirements. CSIAC also facilitated a meeting with a government off-the-shelf software tool developer and the inquirer.
