What are the best practices for computer storage sanitization in the U.S. Department of Defense?

The Cybersecurity and Information Systems Information Analysis Center (CSIAC) is seeking information on current computer sanitization practices being employed across the U.S. Department of Defense. Information on purging ALL data (including firmware) from servers, volatile storage (DRAM), and nonvolatile storage (NVRAM, SSD drives, and flash memory) would be appreciated.
