The DoD is taking an all-hands approach to ensure the United States continues to lead in the adoption of artificial intelligence (AI). Some see AI’s efficiency in reducing mundane or repetitive tasks as one of the leading benefits.
“DAU’s assistance in the use of AI was the catalyst needed for NAVAIR ACO to begin to use this new technology to be a force multiplier for our limited workforce,” said Kenneth Lawson, Technical Director for Airworthiness, U.S. Navy and Marine Corps Airworthiness & Cybersafe Office (ACO). DAU helped the office learn to use generative AI (GenAI) to reduce time and effort needed to draft foreign military airworthiness authority assessment reports and additional translation tasks, including follow-up sessions that facilitated translating questions and responses.
After a short DAU presentation on AI info and a GenAI demo to 35 NAVAIR systems engineers, the ACO asked DAU to show them how to cut time off translating and reporting on airworthiness of foreign countries.
